Before applying to the UK, let’s first know about the types of student visas.
Tier 4 Student Visa:
This visa allows students to stay up to 5 years, or until the length of the course. Students are required to search for a sponsor for the accommodation, should be financially active for daily living, and must pay the healthcare surcharge. With this visa, students can study and work as students.
Short-term study visa:
This is basically designed for studying the English language in the UK. The student must pay the healthcare surcharge as part of the application. The course cannot be changed and students cannot work on this visa.

Step 1: Information
The first step is to know and gather all the information regarding the UK visa types and the university location that the student wants to study at. Students must meet the qualifying requirements, have their required documents ready, and have passed the English proficiency test with satisfying results.
Step 2: Online Application
With all the decisions made and the documents ready, students can now fill out the online visa application. Students must register for an online account on the UK Visa and Immigration website. The complete and correct information must be filled out in the application. Providing false documents or information can lead to visa rejection.
Step 3: Pay fees.
After filling out the online form, the visa fees should be paid. The payment can be made online during the application process. The fee may vary according to the type of visa and other factors. The payment for the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) along with the visa application fee.
Step 4: Biometric Appointment
When the application is submitted and payment is done, students are required to schedule a biometric appointment at a UK visa application center in Nepal. Student’s biometrics such as photographs, fingerprints and other necessary biometrics will be taken. Also, required documents must be submitted when making the appointment.
Step 5: Biometric Day
The date and time will be provided by the visa application center. Students must visit the office at the given time and date. This day, the biometric data will be taken, and in some cases, there may be a chance of a short interview, so be prepared for that. Submit the biometric data and the necessary documents at this time, and wait for the official notice for further processing.
Step 6: Interview
The visa application center may call for an interview for further processing. Attend the interview on the scheduled date and time if they call with the necessary documents. After this step, it may take a few days or even weeks for their decision to arrive. Keep calm and wait for the outcomes.
Step 7: Decision
The visa application center will notify the students of the decision. If the visa gets approved, one’s passport will get stamped with the UK visa. And students can now further process to travel and start their new journey in the foreign land.
