IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the most popular proficiency test for the English language, first introduced in 1980 AD. IELTS test scores are recognized as proof of English language ability at thousands of universities, colleges, and workplaces around the world.

IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training are the two types of IELTS tests. IELTS Academic is designed for individuals who are more interested in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in foreign countries, while ILETS General Training is the test designed for individuals applying for programs below the degree level or for work related purposes. IELTS General testing scores show the English language proficiency necessary for everyday communication. Both the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Testing include four sessions of testing: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Listening and speaking are similar in both types, while reading and writing are different in both types of IELTS tests.
