The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a multiple-choice, computer-based, standardized exam created specifically for graduate schools and business graduate programs worldwide. Additionally, several law schools in the United States will accept GRE results for admission. The GRE is intended to assess students’ abilities to analyze and evaluate written material, as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills. It includes basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. The GRE test is recognized as one of the most crucial steps in the graduate or business school admissions process.
The GRE was designed to give graduate, business, and law institutions with standardized metrics for evaluating applicants’ competence and preparation for graduate-level academic work. GRE scores are divided into three as: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning. The score validity is for 5 years.
Format of GRE Test
Analytical Writing = One “Analyze an Issue” task, 30 minutes, 0-6 Score range.
Verbal Reasoning =27 Questions (7 text completion, 6 sentence equivalent, 14 Comprehensive), 40 minutes, 130-170 Score range.
Quantitative Reasoning =27 Questions (10 comparative, 13 problem solving, 4 data interpretations), 47 minutes, 130-170 Score range.
Total Timing = 1 hour 58 minutes approximately.
